City Breaks Ground on Two Disaster Community Development Block Grant Roadway Projects (February 5, 2010) – Crews recently began construction work on two roadway rehabilitation projects funded by disaster community development block grants (d-CDBG). St. Roch Avenue from N. Roman Street to St. Claude Avenue will receive approximately $850,000 in rehabilitation repairs. Douglass Street from Forstall Street to Lamanche Street; Andry Street from N. Peters Street to Douglass Street; and N. Peters Street from Andry Street to Flood Street will receive approximately $890,000 in rehabilitation repairs.

Rehabilitation Begins on Carrollton Avenue (January 22, 2010) – Construction crews have begun the rehabilitation of Carrollton Avenue from I-10 to St. Charles Avenue as part of the South Louisiana Submerged Roads Program. The work on Carrollton Avenue adds to the current work underway on St. Charles Avenue and Earhart Boulevard.

Public Works Breaks Ground on Fleur de Lis Drive (January 19, 2010) – The City of New Orleans Department of Public Works and the New Orleans Regional Planning Commission hosted a ceremonial groundbreaking marking the start of the second phase of a project to reconstruct Fleur de Lis Drive from Veterans Boulevard to 30th Avenue. This is the City's second major roadway project to break ground through the use of resources allocated by President Obama's American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) or federal stimulus funds.

City of New Orleans to Break Ground on Norman Mayer Library in Gentilly (Dec. 28, 2009) - City Council Member Cynthia Hedge Morrell (District D), New Orleans Public Library Chief Operating Officer Rica Trigs, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Cynthia Sylvain- Lear and members of the Gentilly community will celebrate the groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction on a new library. One of five new libraries slated to be built at a total cost of more than $27.5 million. The ceremony will take place on December 29th at 10 am on site at 2098 Foy Street.

City Begins Reconstruction of Final Phase of Robert E. Lee Boulevard (Dec. 21, 2009) - The City of New Orleans Department of Public Works has begun the reconstruction of Robert E. Lee Boulevard from Paris Avenue to Pratt Drive. Previously, other sections of Robert E. Lee Boulevard from the 17th Street Canal to Elysian Fields Avenue received repairs as part of various programs. The section from Paris Avenue to Pratt Drive is the final segment to be repaired.

The City of New Orleans is undertaking an unprecedented level of capital improvement, street and landscape enhancement projects to rebuild New Orleans to pre-storm conditions, returning it to its status as one of the nation's most vibrant and thriving communities. Already, $1.1 billion has been allocated toward active recovery projects.
