HANO is a state-created public agency dedicated to providing safe, sanitary and affordable housing for low-income residents. Although the organization's primary goal is to provide housing, it also facilitates resident self-sufficiency and upward mobility through productive collaboration.
The RSD is a special state school district administered by the Louisiana Department of Education. Created by legislation passed in 2003, five schools in New Orleans were transferred to the RSD before Hurricane Katrina. The RSD is now focused on reopening schools and laying the groundwork for a world-class public education system.
HUD's mission is to increase homeownership, support community development and increase access to affordable housing free from discrimination. The organization offers several housing assistance and recovery resources.
